Shabana Reaches 18th Month As World No1
Since first becoming world No1 in April 2006, the 28-year-old from Cairo has picked up five PSA Super Series titles to bring his career Tour title tally to 16.
In a relatively unchanged list, Shabana maintains his lead ahead of compatriot Ramy Ashour at No2; Australia's World Open champion David Palmer at three; and Frenchmen Gregory Gaultier and Thierry Lincou in fourth and fifth place, respectively.
Malaysia's Mohd Azlan Iskandar is the highest riser in the list. The 25-year-old from Sarawak is enjoying one of the best runs in his career after reaching three successive Tour finals since May, including title-winning triumphs in the Mayacamas Ranch North American Open in San Francisco and the CIMB Malaysian Open on home soil in July. Runner-up in this month's CAS International in Pakistan, Iskandar moves to 16.
A runner-up finish in last week's Club El Nogal Colombian Open in Bogotá sees Spain's Borja Golan returns to the top 20 at 20. The Colombian success took the 24-year-old from Santiago into the 18th PSA Tour final of his career.
