DEFENDING CHAMPION BEACHILL TO REPORT DAILY
Yorkshire's world No8 Lee Beachill, who will be defending his British
National Squash Championships title for the second successive year in
Manchester next week, has announced that he will be writing personal accounts
of his matches on his official website www.LeeBeachill.com
The 2003 Championships have attracted the World's top players from England,
Scotland, Wales and Ireland and Lee hopes that this initiative will help
promote the championships and improve awareness of the event to the growing
number of squash fans in the UK.
Lee Beachill revealed on www.LeeBeachill.com the reasons for his involvement:
"The British National Championships is one of the biggest tournaments of the
year for me and the highlight of my career to date was winning my second
title last year - becoming the first man in history to win the title two
years in succession.
"Interest in this year's tournament has been incredible and to help to
promote the event, and in particular provide fans with a greater insight into
my own thoughts and feelings, I have decided to post a personal account on my
website, immediately following each of my matches. The initial response to
this initiative has been very positive and I hope that this small
contribution on my part will help to increase interest in the Championships
in the UK and around the world."
Lee, the third seed, faces a qualifier in the first round on Tuesday at the
National Squash Centre in Manchester - home of last summer's Commonwealth
Games.
