Amjad Progresses In Karachi

Pakistan qualifier Amjad Khan made further progress in the CNS International Squash Championship in Karachi by beating seventh-seeded compatriot Aamir Atlas Khan in straight games in the quarter-finals of the $25,000 PSA Tour event at the Jahangir Khan Squash Complex.

The former Pakistan Open champion is fighting his way back to full fitness after a series of injuries thwarted his international career three years ago.  The 25-year-old from Peshawar had to be at his best to overcome the 15-year-old Asian Junior Champion 11-10 11-6 11-8.

In an all-Pakistan semi-final, Khan will face unseeded Arshad Iqbal Burki, who beat eighth seed Khayal Muhammad Khan 11-8 11-6 11-9.

The other semi-final will be an all-English affair between unseeded Mark Heather and third seed Jonathan Kemp, the highest seed left in the draw.  Heather defeated Pakistan's Basit Ashfaq 11-7 11-5 11-10, while Kemp overcame Egypt's sixth seed Hisham Mohd Ashour 11-9 11-7 11-8.
