Nicol David Triumphs Again In New York

Following hot on the heels of her success in the British Open earlier in the month, Malaysia's Nicol David has triumphed over Natalie Grinham of Australia to win the Women's Carol Weymuller Squash Open at the Heights Casino in New York, USA.

Despite showing little sign of the effects of the 90-minute semi-final marathon she endured against England's Vicky Botwright, David dropped the first game as a result of Grinham's better consistency and good shot selection.

The Malaysian came back in the second, cut down on the errors and took the ball earlier, just as she had the night before.  David started to dictate more of the rallies and took a tough second game - and then the third.

In the fourth Nicol seemed a little over confident at the beginning, giving Grinham a few errors and a small window of opportunity to get the third seed back in the match.  But at 1-3 down, second seed David significantly raised the pace and went straight through in one hand to take the match 5-9 9-6 9-4 9-3.

The victory gave the 22-year-old from Penang her second WISPA World Tour title of the month, and the seventh major international title of the year.
