Berg Is Atlanta Open Victor
Canada's Viktor Berg celebrated the first PSA Tour title of his career when
he beat England's Mark Heather in an epic 90-minute final of the Atlanta Open
Squash Championship in Georgia, USA.
Losing the first game 15-11, top seed Berg bounced back to win the next two
15-12 and 15-6. The fourth game was all square at 10-10 before Heather, the
sixth seed from Portsmouth, hit five excellent winners to seal the game and
draw level.
The fifth game was a thriller - the Englishman took a 3-0 lead before Berg
caught up to move 7-4 ahead. The 25-year-old from Toronto then led up to
13-12 before Heather hit back with two impressive winners which took him to
match-ball at 14-13. At 14-14, Heather called 'three' before the match
reached the ultimate knife-edge scenario with both players having match-ball
at 16-16.
The final point went to Viktor Berg as he clinched his fist to claim his
first Atlanta Open win 11-15 15-12 15-6 10-15 17-16.
