Galvez, 21, from Puebla, beat the Welshman 11-9 7-11 11-8 11-7 in 69 minutes to earn a surprise quarter-final clash with Frenchman Laurent Elriani. On the same day that his new wife Linda Elriani successfully began the defence of her title in the Greenwich Open, south of the border in Connecticut, USA, qualifier Laurent removed England's sixth seed Alex Stait 11-6 7-11 11-10 9-11 11-6 in an 85-minute marathon. |
