Canadian number two Shawn Delierre single-handedly led home hopes through to the quarter-finals of the GoodLife Squash Open after beating Pakistan's Danish Atlas Khan in the opening round of the PSA World Tour Challenger 10 event in its eighth successive year at Goodlife Fitness in Ottawa.

Twice champion Delierre, the 30-year-old No4 seed from Montreal, battled to an 11-8, 11-8, 11-5 victory over 18-year-old Khan in 54 minutes.
Delierre will now face Englishman Olivier Pett, the highest-ranked unseeded player in the draw who denied the crowd an all-Canadian quarter-final by beating wildcard Adrian Dudzicki 11-8, 8-11, 12-10, 11-8.
"The best match of the night was between local Ottawa boy Adrian who pushed Pett to four tough games," said tournament organiser Heather Wallace. "The difference maker being Olivier was too accurate at the front of the court."
Australia's Zac Alexander made a strong start in defence of the title he won last year. The top seed from Brisbane despatched Canadian Fred Reid 11-6, 11-9, 11-5 in just 22 minutes and will now face Lucas Serme for a place in the semi-finals
Frenchman Serme also overcame local opposition, beating Thomas Brinkman, a 23-year-old from British Columbia, 11-5, 11-4, 10-12, 11-5.
