Germany’s Jens Schoor and England’s Victoria Lust came away with the spoils at the OAA Greek Open Squash Championships at the Athens Lawn Tennis & Squash Club in the Greek capital Athens.

Schoor, the German number two from Koblenz, was seeded to win the $3,750 PSA World Tour title – and expected to meet second seed Mazen Gamal in the final.

But while the 23-year-old German favourite reached the final without dropping a game, Gamal was taken the full distance by unseeded fellow Egyptian Basem Makram in the other semi-final.

And Schoor, the world No88, maintained his ‘clean sheet’ in the final, beating Gamal – ranked 30 places lower - 11-7, 11-2, 11-5.

The win marks Schoor’s second Tour title success in his second final.

The final of the women’s $4,000 WISPA World Tour event also featured the top two seeds – and Italian favourite Manuela Manetta was celebrating her eight appearance in a Tour final.

But second seed Victoria Lust, the 21-year-old world No40 from Cheltenham, opened up leads after the first and third games – and eventually defeated the higher-ranked 27-year-old from Parma 11-4, 5-11, 11-8, 8-11, 11-1.

Lust is riding on the crest of a wave currently, after reaching the earlier London Open final against expectations.  The Greek success marks Lust’s second Tour title.
