After finishing as runner-up a year ago, teenager Henrik Mustonen went one better in Ireland on Sunday when he became the first Finnish winner of the Leinster Open following his upset over second-seeded Englishman Shaun le Roux in the final of the $6,000 PSA World Tour squash event in its fifth year at Fitzwilliam LTC in Dublin.
Mustonen, a 19-year-old from Hollola, made his breakthrough in the semi-finals where he scored one of the best wins of his career by beating top-seeded Italian Davide Bianchetti, the world No43, in straight games.
The third-seeded Finn, ranked 87 in the world, then battled for 71 minutes to overcome Le Roux 9-11, 12-10, 12-14, 11-2, 11-4.
The win marks Mustonen's second Tour title triumph - but his first for more than a year.
