Bhattacharya Battles On In Chennai

Third seed Ritwik Bhattacharya kept local hopes of success in the Chennai Squash Open in India alive when he beat Germany's sixth seed Stefan Leifels 15-11 15-11 15-5 in the quarter-finals in Chennai.

The 24-year-old from New Delhi now faces Australia's Mike Corren in the semi-finals after the top seed was fully extended by fifth seed Khayal Muhammad before overcoming the Pakistani 15-13 15-10 12-15 15-12 in 82 minutes.

There will, however, be unexpected Pakistani interest in the other semi-final after Saeed Hassan upset fourth seed Dylan Bennett, the European Junior Champion from the Netherlands, 15-10 15-6 7-15 17-16.

The seventh seed will take on England's No2 seed Mark Heather, who beat compatriot Ashley Flathers 13-15 15-8 15-9 15-11.
