RESULTS:    Women's Colombo Squash Open, Lisbon, Portugal

Final:
[2] Emma Beddoes (ENG) bt [1] Tricia Chuah (MAS) 9-7, 9-5, 9-5 (43m)

England's Emma Beddoes upset top-seeded Malaysian Tricia Chuah in the final of the Women's Colombo Open in Lisbon to win her maiden Tour title in the first WISPA World Tour squash event to be held in Portugal.

The 22-year-old second seed from Leamington Spa in Warwickshire - who was struck down by a kidney infection only weeks before the event - dropped only one game en-route to her second Tour final in two months.

Displaying the same composure and rhythm that had characterised her semi-final win over experienced Dutch opponent Karen Kronemeyer, Beddoes despatched the Malaysian favourite - ranked 38 places higher in the world - 9-7, 9-5, 9-5 in 43 minutes.

"I’m speechless," said former British National Junior champion Beddoes afterwards.  "I didn’t come to Lisbon with any expectations after my illness.

"The game last night was hard and I did wake up a little tired but I thought that this was the last match left so I should try and push through it……….Now my legs feel like lead!"
