Final:
[4] Miguel Angel Rodriguez (COL) bt [1] Omar Mosaad (EGY) 11-9, 11-2, 11-6 (38m)
Just 24 hours after upsetting the event's No2 seed to claim an unexpected place in the final of the Quito Open, Colombian Miguel Angel Rodriguez defeated top seed Omar Mosaad in straight games to win the $15,000 PSA Tour squash title at Quito Tenis Y Golf Club in the Ecuador capital.
The 21-year-old from Bogotá - who this month achieved a career-high world No40 ranking to become the highest-ranked Colombian ever - was celebrating his fourth PSA Tour final appearance this year.
But showing few signs of his 69-minute semi-final battle with Mexican Eric Galvez, fourth seed Rodriquez romped to an 11-9, 11-2, 11-6 victory over Mosaad, ranked three places higher in the world, in just 38 minutes.
The triumph marks the South American champion's fifth PSA Tour title success - and his second in 2007.
"It was an unforgettable tournament with amazing players and amazing squash," said tournament organiser Juan Carlos Santacruz.
