Mexican twins Cesar Salazar and Arturo Salazar continued their impressive run in the Quito Squash Open to secure unexpected places in the quarter-finals of the $15,000 PSA Tour event at Quito Tenis Y Golf Club in the capital city of Ecuador.
The 19-year-olds had already come through the qualifiers against expectations. Then Arturo Salazar recovered from two games down to beat South Africa's No8 seed Stephen Coppinger 6-11, 6-11, 11-2, 11-7, 11-1 in 54 minutes.
In the other half of the draw, Cesar Salazar also needed five games to overcome sixth-seeded Australian Tony James 11-10 (3-1), 7-11, 11-9, 6-11, 11-7 in a 75-minute first round marathon.
Arturo now faces Egypt's top seed Omar Mosaad, while Cesar takes on fellow Mexican Eric Galvez, the second seed.
