Evans, the former British Open champion from Pontypool now ranked 33 in the world, defeated Durbach, ranked four places higher, 15-14 15-5 15-10 - and now faces top-seeded compatriot Alex Gough in a repeat of January's Welsh National Championships' final which was won by Evans. Gough ended Hisham Moh'd Ashour's run with a 15-9 15-7 15-9 victory over the unseeded Egyptian. There will also be British interest in the other semi-final where England's second seed Adrian Grant takes on Australia's Dan Jenson. Grant beat Spain's seventh seed Borja Golan 15-9 15-11 15-6, while fourth seed Jenson fought back from 2/1 down to overcome England's Del Harris, the eighth seed, 15-5 12-15 9-15 15-1 15-6. |
