South Africa To Host 4th World Deaf Squash Championships

South Africa will host the 4th World Deaf Squash Championships at the Durbanville Squash Club, near Cape Town, from 9-14 October 2007.

Supported by the World Squash Federation (WSF), the World Deaf Squash Association (WDSA), the South African Deaf Sports Federation, the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee, Squash South Africa, Disability Sports South Africa, City of Cape Town and Western Cape Department of Sport Culture and Recreation, Western Cape Deaf Sports Federation, Western Province Squash and Durbanville Squash Club, the event will be hosted by the South African Deaf Squash Association.

The 4th WDSC is expected to attract over 50 elite players and officials from all over the world to participate in spirited squash competition.   The WDSC is recognised by the World Squash Federation and Squash South Africa, the governing body for the sport of squash in South Africa.

The WDSC will comprise both individual (men and women) and team events (men and women) and caters for all standards of player.

Players from South Africa, alongside those from Australia, England, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan and Scotland, are expected to perform to the top of their ability throughout the Championships.

Previous Championships have been staged in Milton Keynes, England in 2001; Zoetermeer in the Netherlands in 2003; and Melbourne, Australia, in 2005.
