Two successive stunning victories over higher-ranked Canadians have taken England's Emma Beddoes into her maiden WISPA World Tour final at the Women's Sun & Surf Jericho Squash Open at the Jericho Tennis Club in Vancouver, Canada.
The 21-year-old from Warwick, a student at Nottingham University, made her breakthrough in the quarter-finals when she twice came from behind to defeat experienced second seed Runa Reta 6-9, 9-6, 8-10, 9-1, 9-7.
Sixth seed Beddoes, a former British Junior champion, stepped up her game in the semi-finals to overcome Carolyn Russell, the No4 seed ranked more than 20 places higher in the world, 10-8, 9-1, 9-3 in 45 minutes.
Beddoes will meet Latasha Khan in the final after the top seed from the USA battled back from 2-6 down in the second and 3-6 behind in the third to beat Canadian National champion Alana Miller, the third seed, 9-2, 9-6, 10-9 in 54 minutes.
