Australia's sixth seed Scott Arnold earned himself a surprise place in the men's final of the City of Joondalup Squash Open after beating compatriot Ryan Cuskelly in the semi-finals of the PSA Tour event at Mullaloo Squash Centre in Perth, Western Australia.

The 21-year-old from Brisbane made his breakthrough in the previous round where he ousted New Zealand's second seed Kashif Shuja in five games.

Cuskelly also caused an upset in the quarter-finals when he beat third seed Aaron Frankcomb in a 114-minute marathon.

But it was a fresher Arnold who beat the unseeded Cuskelly 11-5, 11-9, 11-6 in 40 minutes to make his sixth Tour final.

Arnold will face top-seeded Dutchman Dylan Bennett, who needed just 27 minutes to overcome Australia's No8 seed Luke Margan 11-5, 11-4, 11-2.

The final of the women's WISPA World Tour event will feature the two top seeds from Australia.  Favourite Amelia Pittock beat fourth-seeded compatriot Lisa Camilleri 9-6, 9-5, 7-9, 9-5 while second seed Peta Hughes had to fight back from two games down to beat fellow Australian Donna Urquhart, the No3 seed, 0-9, 2-9, 9-4, 9-7, 9-3.
