NEWS RESULTS: Carol Weymuller Women's US Open Squash Championship, New York, USA Final: [6] Cassie Jackman (ENG) bt [1] Carol Owens (NZL) 9-5, 5-9, 4-9, 9-7, 9-5 Jubilant Jackman Ousts Owens For US Open Title England's Cassie Jackman produced one of the greatest fight-backs of her career to beat world No1 and top seed Carol Owens in the final of the Carol Weymuller Women's US Open Squash Championship to claim the title for a fourth time at the Heights Casino in New York. Sixth-seeded Jackman, who ten days earlier lost in the final of the British Open in Nottingham, was 2-1 down when she reasserted her authority on the game to draw level. It was an excellent match of see-sawing fortunes, which saw both players extended to the limits of their endurance - but with the score at 7-5 in the deciding game, Jackman was awarded a conduct stroke after Owens was believed to have disputed a decision by the referee. Jackman went on to convert her match ball and take the title in a 9-5 5-9 4-9 9-7 9-5 scoreline. It was Jackman first victory over Owens in more then three years, and the 25th of her WISPA World Tour career. It also marks the 30-year-old from Norfolk's best win since returning to the Tour at the beginning of the year after undergoing her second career-threatening back operation last September. Jackman can now look forward with greater confidence to reclaiming the World Open title she first won in Seattle in 1999 when the 2003 event takes place in Hong Kong in December.
