Canada's defending champion Shawn Delierre rallied for 97 minutes in the quarter-finals of the Bluenose Squash Classic in Nova Scotia, Canada, but was unable to stop top seed Borja Golan progressing through to the last four of the PSA Tour event at St Mary's University Tower in Halifax.

Golan, a quarter-finalist in last week's Oregon Open in the USA, twice stemmed a comeback by Delierre to beat the sixth seed from Montreal 11-3, 10-11 (1-3), 11-5, 10-11 (0-2), 11-6.

The Spaniard will now face Bradley Ball for a place in the final after the fourth seed beat fellow Englishman Mark Heather 11-8, 11-3, 11-7.

Canada is assured of a finalist after Shahier Razik and Graham Ryding survived the other two quarter-finals.  Third seed Razik beat Mexican qualifier Jorge Isaac Baltazar Ferreira 11-5, 11-3, 11-2 while Ryding, the event favourite, defeated Canadian qualifier Ian Power 11-5, 11-6, 11-3.

Semi-final line-up:
