The 25-year-old fifth seed from Shropshire, ranked 30 in the world, beat Walker 11-6, 11-4, 9-11, 11-4 to vindicate the latest PSA world rankings - produced after the seedings were finalised - in which Kemp has leapt ahead of his opponent.

Kemp will now face Shahier Razik, the second seed from Canada who beat No6 seed Eric Galvez after the Mexican retired injured after a few points into the third game.

The standout game of the day saw France's Renan Lavigne and Czech qualifier Jan Koukal battle for 94 minutes before the third-seeded Frenchman emerged triumphant in an 11-6, 7-11, 11-10 (2-0), 7-11, 11-10 (2-0) scoreline.

Lavigne meets No7 seed Bradley Ball after the Englishman stopped Canada's Matthew Giuffre - the shock first round victor over top seed Joey Barrington - in 56 minutes with the score standing at 9-11, 11-1, 11-4, 11-10 (2-0).
