Dutch brothers Niels and Tom Hoevenaars suffered mixed fortunes in the qualifying finals of the Bieber Securities Fall Squash Classic in Winnipeg, Canada.
Niels went down 11-10 (2-0), 11-9, 11-9 to Mexico's Jorge Isaac Baltazar Ferreira, runner-up in last week's Saskatoon Open in Saskatchewan.
Tom fared better against another Mexican, beating Sergio Lopez 11-5, 11-6, 11-4 to earn a first round match against second-seeded Canadian Robin Clarke.
Clarke is expected to face top seed Jan Koukal, from the Czech Republic, in Sunday's final.
