Gaessler continued his fine form of the first round to take out Italy's third seed Luca Mastrostefano 11-10 (3-1), 11-7, 11-1 in 40 minutes at the SquashClub Stare Kino in Krakow.

The 22-year-old from Stuttgart will now face Australian Bradley Hindle after the No2 seed overcame Switzerland's sixth seed Andre Holderegger 11-8, 6-11, 11-2, 9-11, 11-8 in a 63-minute battle.

Harford, fresh from his unexpected triumph in last week's Leinster Open in Ireland, toiled for 64 minutes before getting the better of Jan Koukal, the No4 seed from the Czech Republic, 11-8, 11-9, 7-11, 11-8.

The 23-year-old from Gloucestershire, who is based in Leeds, goes on to meet the top seed Omar Abdel Aziz, the Egyptian who crushed Englishman Jago Nardelli, the seventh seed, 11-0, 11-0, 11-6 in 27 minutes.
