Brazilian qualifier Tiago Cabral produced the only upset on the opening day of action in the Patio Savissi Fashion Tour Squash Open when he beat fifth-seeded Canadian Patrick Bedore in the new PSA Tour event at Patio Savissi in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
Cabral, from Sao Paulo, recovered from two games down to win 10-11 (0-2), 8-11, 11-7, 11-8, 11-3. He now takes on fellow Brazilian Ronivaldo Santos, the fourth seed who beat compatriot Yuri Franca 11-6, 11-6, 11-1.
Event favourite Raj Nanda brushed aside Brazilian qualifier Ronivaldo Duarte 11-8, 11-9, 11-6. The top seed s expected to face fellow Australian Aaron Frankcomb, the second seed, in the final.
