Brown Run Gathers Momentum in Adelaide

Australian Kasey Brown’s remarkable run of success continued today (Wednesday) when she beat top seed Amelia Pittock in the semi-final of the women's Australian Open Squash Championship in Adelaide.

The 20-year-old from Taree in New South Wales overcame Pittock in straight games 9-2, 9-1, 9-2 in 36 minutes - and is now unbeaten in the last four WISPA World Tour events she has played.

Brown will take on fellow Australian Dianne Desira in the final following the 24-year-old Victorian's 9-2, 10-8, 9-4 win over Queensland’s Lisa Camilleri.

The final will be both players' eighth WISPA Tour final appearance.  It will also be a rematch of last week’s South Australian Open final, which Brown won in four games.

Brown felt that the semi-final was closer than the scoreline indicated:  “It’s always going to be a tough match when you play Amelia,” Brown said.  “But I played well defensively and held her off when she was attacking me.”

Brown's triumph in the South Australian Open followed her successes in the WA Open in Perth and the Naracoorte Open in South Australia.

“I’ve done a lot of hard work training with the AIS (Australian Institute of Sport, in Brisbane) and it’s paying off well for me now,” she said.  “I’m on a bit of a run which has got my confidence right up, so I don’t really care who I play – I think I can win the title.”
