PSALive Launches Archive Service

Following the success of the Professional Squash Association's dedicated webstreaming website in providing live action of top matches on the PSA Tour to squash fans around the world via the internet, www.PSALIVE.TV is now launching an archive service which will bring many of the great clashes of the past to today's fast-growing on-line audience.

"A hot squash topic on PSALIVE.TV is comparing today’s stars with the heroes of yesteryear," said Fiona Harrison, Marketing and Sales Director of the service providers Horizon Software.  "How does Nicol rate against the Khans; how would Eyles and Martin match up against today’s top 10?  Well you no longer have to imagine!"

The new PSALIVE.TV ARCHIVE service will enable fans to watch their favourite players of the past in some of the greatest matches ever played - available with immediate effect on PSALIVE.TV.

Some of the matches now available include the 1997 British Open semi-finals and famous final between Jansher Khan and Peter Nicol – in which the Englishman in his maiden appearance in the final extended Kahn for 126 minutes before the legendary Pakistani clinched his sixth, and last, title.

Also on offer is coverage of the 1996 Mahindra International in Bombay, India, including the final in which Nicol secured his second title (of three) in the final against Australia's Rodney Eyles.  Also in the same year is footage of the Tournament of Champions in New York, where Canada's Jonathon Power made his elite breakthrough after upsetting Nicol in the semi-finals before going on to win the title for the first of four times.

Comprehensive coverage of the 1996 Super Series Finals is also available, including various group matches and the final in which Del Harris became the first English winner of the crown after beating Australian Brett Martin in the final.

"Our aim is to continue to build the PSALIVE.TV ARCHIVE service, providing footage of all the great matches from past decades.  Matches will be continually added to this new service as the footage becomes available," added Ms Harrison.

"We are keen to get feedback on the matches that our audience would like to see – and we do our best to make more and more archive footage available."

PSA Chief Executive Gawain Briars commented:  "Having seen the best players in action in previous eras, I can say that the new PSALive.TV archive section adds an unparalleled opportunity for squash fans to finally see for themselves the style and technique used by the past greats.

"To have a clear view to compare Jansher's speed, accuracy and commitment with today's elite is now before us.  Add Dittmar, the Martin brothers, Eyles, Marshall and the younger Power, Nicol, Harris and Walker to the mix and squash fans should have ammunition for much debate.

"We also hope to be able to expand further the new archive section in the future," concluded Briars.

To access the ARCHIVE, visitors to www.PSALIVE.TV are urged to go to the matches page and click on the archive button.  This will produce a new page dedicated to all the archive matches available to watch.  For those requiring help, this is available via the friendly Help Desk team at Dit e-mailadres wordt beveiligd tegen spambots.
