Briggs Battles To Finnish Open Title

England's Lauren Briggs celebrated her second WISPA World Tour title of the month when she beat compatriot Sarah Kippax in the final of the Savcor Women's Finnish Open Squash Championship in Mikkeli.

The top seed from London beat Kippax, from Chester, 9-6, 4-9, 9-0, 9-3 to win the established WISPA title for the first time in her fourth appearance in the event.

"Sarah is very fit so you have to try as much as you can," said 26-year-old Briggs afterwards.

"I just try to play as well as possible and try to keep my concentration.  I was nervous in the first and in the second game but then it just settled down.  I knew that if I played well and steadily, I'd have a very good chance of winning."

The Mikkeli success follows Briggs's win in the Swiss Open in Geneva two weeks ago and brings her career WISPA title tally to three since February 2004.
