Majid Makes COAS Quarters In Islamabad

Majid Khan, a 22-year-old qualifier from Peshawar, caused the only upset in today's (Wednesday) first round of the COAS Squash International when he defeated fifth-seeded compatriot Aamir Atlas Khan in five games in the $25,000 PSA Tour event at the Roshan Khan Squash Centre in Islamabad, Pakistan.

In the longest game of the day – finally resolved in a tie-break – Majid beat his 15-year-old opponent 11-9, 11-7, 10-11, 6-11, 11-10 in 69 minutes to earn a quarter-final clash with fellow Pakistani Mansoor Zaman.

Third seed Mansoor was made to fight from two games down to beat Pakistani qualifier Farhan Mehboob 9-11, 3-11, 11-8, 11-10, 11-9 in 47 minutes.

By contrast, Egypt's world junior champion Ramy Ashour took just 11 minutes to squash former Pakistan No1 Amjad Khan 11-4, 11-2, 11-4.
