Mansoor Zaman Wins Pakistan National Title

World No17 Mansoor Zaman confirmed his status as Pakistan's leading squash
player when he beat his cousin Shahid Zaman, the country's second highest
world-ranked player, in the final of the President PSF Pakistan National
Championship in Abbottabad.
Left-hander Mansoor, the Peshawar-based son of the legendary former British
Open champion Qamar Zaman, was seeded to win the title and dropped only one
game en-route to the final - dismissing fourth seed Ajaz Azmat in just 27 minutes
in a 3/0 semi-final thrashing.
Second seed Shahid, 20, from Quetta, reached the final after beating Muhammad
Ilyas - the sixth seed who upset defending champion Farrukh Zaman, also a
cousin of the finalists, in the quarter-finals.
The final was a closely-contested affair, but 23-year-old Mansoor ultimately
prevailed 15-8 15-10 12-15 15-6 in 52 minutes to collect the event trophy
from Air Chief Marshall Sadaat Kaleem, President of the Pakistan Squash
Federation (PSF).
