Egyptian qualifier Ramy Ashour claimed his second successive seed scalp in the EBS Dayton Open Squash Championships when he beat Canada's seventh seed Shahier Razik 8-11 11-9 11-3 11-6 in the men's quarter-finals of the PSA Tour event in the US state of Ohio.
The 18-year-old world junior champion from Cairo, who upset Malaysia's third seed Ong Beng Hee in the first round, will now face Finland's second seed Olli Tuominen for a place in the final.
There will be a surprise Egyptian in the other semi-final when Mohammed Abbas takes on Scotland's top seed John White. Abbas, the fifth seed, upset fourth-seeded fellow countryman Wael El Hindi 11-10 10-11 11-5 11-2.
White, aiming to win his first Dayton title, overcame a first game deficit to beat Australia's eighth seed Cameron Pilley 8-11 11-4 11-4 11-7.
The top two seeds will meet in the women's final. English favourite Linda Elriani beat long-time English rival Fiona Geaves, the third seed, 9-3 9-1 6-9 9-5, while Egypt's second seed Omneya Abdel Kawy cruised to a 9-2 9-0 9-4 win over Scotland's fourth seed Pamela Nimmo.
