Stoehr Struggles As Pam Progresses In Power-Cut Connecticut
A hamstring injury sustained during practice for her first round match in the Women's Harrow Greenwich Squash Open caused sixth seed Isabelle Stoehr to crumble to unseeded Scot Pamela Nimmo in the WISPA World Tour event in Greenwich, USA.
After losing the first two games, the 26-year-old from France was forced to stop after three points of the third game and concede the match to her Scottish opponent.
Edinburgh-based Nimmo now goes on to meet fellow Briton Linda Elriani, the top seed from England who despatched qualifier Dominique Lloyd-Walter, also from England, 9-4 9-1 9-0. The British champion is seeking her third successive Greenwich Open title.
High winds in Connecticut brought down power lines to the Field Club where the championship was being staged. Players and official were hurriedly relocated to the Greenwich Country Club where the remainder of the event will now be played.
