Seeds Vanquished In Vancouver

Seeds tumbled on the opening day of action in the North Shore Credit Union/Comfort Inn Squash Open at Evergreen Squash Club in Vancouver, Canada.

German qualifier Simon Rosner produced the most devastating upset when he beat local player Matthew Giuffre, the fourth seed and highest-seeded Canadian in the $15,000 PSA Tour event draw.  Rosner battled for 71 minutes to overcome Giuffre 11-9 7-11 11-6 3-11 11-8 – and now meets fellow qualifier Paul Davis, from Australia, who beat Bermuda's seventh seed Nicholas Kyme 11-8 9-11 11-6 11-3.

Welshman Gavin Jones was the highest seed to fall – beaten 11-8 11-8 2-11 10-11 11-1 by Egypt's Amr Mansi in an 85-minute marathon.
