Lewis Lines Up Local Star Handley After Qualifying Marathon

England's Darren Lewis battled through three tie-break games before finally overcoming Welshman Jethro Binns 11-10 10-11 11-10 5-11 11-6 in a 78-minute marathon to earn a place in the first round of the Hithercroft Open Squash Championship in England.

Lewis, from Leicestershire, now faces second seed Scott Handley in this new PSA Tour event in Wallingford in the county of Oxfordshire.  Handley, a former world No41, is based in Wallingford – and will celebrate his 31st birthday the day after Sunday's final, in which he is due to meet England's top seed Stacey Ross.

Egyptian teenager Tarek Momen also came through the qualifying finals after a five-game battle, clinching victory 6-4 in a fifth-game tie-break.  The 17-year-old from Cairo now faces Englishman Alex Stait, the third seed from Gloucestershire.
