Florham Park, NJ, January 5th, 2006 – Dutch squash pro Laurens Jan (LJ) Anjema announced today that he has signed with the newly established company, SquashPower of Florham Park NJ, for marketing and player representation. Anjema is the third announced player to sign with SquashPower since its launch in November 2005. He joins John White and Engy Kheirallah. A fourth star, Jonathon Power, is the Chairman of SquashPower.
In signing Anjema and Kheirallah, SquashPower has gone after the future of squash, with both players having strong upside potential to move up the rankings pyramid.
Anjema has been particularly popular in his appearance in the USA, appealing to the junior audiences in particular.
Laurens Jan has been a professional athlete since 2001 and is currently ranked 1st in the Netherlands and 23rd in the world. In 2005, Laurens won the Mexico Corona Britania Open, and in 2004 he swept to victory at the Dutch Open, which secured him a place as one of the youngest squash players to be recognized internationally for his exceptional skill on the court. Anjema also writes a regular column for SquashTalk.
“LJ is incredibly driven to succeed,” said Rick Keating, CMO of SquashPower. “We are honored to represent him and make his goals our own.”
“I believe I have the ability, the commitment, and dedication to become World Number One,” said Laurens Jan. “SquashPower has the resources to help me make that dream become a reality.”
