Britons Excel In Canary Islands Open

Four Britons will contest the semi-finals of the Prince Women's Canary Islands Squash Open after beating lower-ranked opposition in the quarter-finals of the WISPA World Tour event in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain.

Defending champion and favourite Vicky Botwright defeated sixth-seeded compatriot Dominique Lloyd-Walter 9-4 9-4 9-4 to set up a meeting with Lancashire county team-mate Laura-Jane Lengthorn, the third seed who beat England’s Lauren Briggs 9-1 9-2 9-6.

Fourth seed Pamela Nimmo was the only player extended to more than three games before making it through to the last four.  The Scot ultimately triumphed 9-6 3-9 9-4 4-9 9-3 over the top seed’s younger sister Rebecca Botwright to set up a clash with England’s Jenny Duncalf, the No2 seed.
