Tortugas Open Marks PSA Return To Argentina
After more than four years since the last PSA Tour squash event in Argentina, the Tortugas Open gets underway today in Buenos Aires with four players from four different countries joining the main draw from the qualifying finals.
Frenchman Yann Perrin defeated Argentina's Horacio Resta 11-5 11-5 11-9 and will now face fifth seed Sabir Butt, from Canada. Egypt's Omar Abdel Meguid overcame local player Alberto Schneider 11-5 11-9 11-4 to set up a first round clash with Australian Tony James, the No7 seed.
Argentinean Rodrigo Pezzota took 54 minutes to overcome fellow countryman Gonzalo Miranda 11-4 10-11 11-9 11-10 and will now join his brother Roberto Pezzota in the main draw. Rodrigo meets top-seeded Mexican Eric Galvez while Roberto takes on Colombian Miguel Angel Rodriguez, the sixth seed.
Making his PSA debut away from his home country Spain is 22-year-old Alejandro Garbi Caro – who dismissed Argentina's Pablo Modernell 11-4 11-5 11-8 in just 13 minutes to claim a first round berth against Hungary's eighth seed Andras Torok.
