Golan Scores Ten Out Of Ten In Vancouver
Spain's Borja Golan celebrated his tenth PSA Tour title in his tenth final appearance when he defeated England's Scott Handley in the climax of the Coastal Contacts Jericho Grand Prix Squash Championship in Vancouver, Canada.
The second-seeded Spaniard, ranked 51 in the world, posted an 11-8 11-9 11-9 victory over third seed Handley to win the $10,000 Coastal Contacts-sponsored event at the Jericho Tennis Club.
Golan, 22, from Santiago DC, won the Jericho event without dropping a single game, winning four matches in four days and all 12 games he played in the main draw of 16 international players.
After upsetting top-seeded Rodney Durbach of South Africa in a 72-minute semi-final, Handley couldn't capitalise when he had the opportunity. The third-seed jumped into a 6-3 lead in the second game but Golan rallied and never lost control of the match from that point.
The win marks Golan's third successive PSA title since the end of September.
