Power Cruises To Motor City Title

Canada's Jonathon Power was in commanding form when he beat John White of Scotland in the final of the Suburban Collection Motor City Squash Open at the Birmingham Athletic Club in Detroit, USA, to collect the 37th major title of his career.

The world No2 from Montreal opened up a quick 6-1 lead over White with an array of expertly-placed shots.  At 8-2, the pair – both former world number ones - engaged in the best point of the match, a 59-shot rally that showcased the full arsenal of both players.  It ended abruptly, however, with a let call - and when Power quickly won the next volley, White wrote off the game.

In the second game, White fought back from 1-5 down to 7-8.  But a quick service return nick winner by Power ended White’s run, and Power ran out the game, 11-7.

White errors came increasingly into play late in the third game - and after 40 minutes, Power clinched his 11-2 11-7 11-6 victory and the fourth PSA title of the year.
