Anjema & Ashour Break Through in Brescia
Egypt's Hisham Ashour and Dutchman Laurens Anjema caused notable upsets on
the opening day of the Mega Italia Squash Open to earn unexpected places in
the quarter-finals of the $10,000 PSA Tour event in Brescia, Italy.
Ashour fought back from a game down to beat third-seeded compatriot Mohammed
Essam Hafiz 15-17 15-5 17-14 15-4. The 20-year-old from Cairo now meets 8th
seed Ben Garner, who survived a 12-hour flight delay from England to overcome
Brescia-based Andrea Bianchetti 15-6 15-9 15-5.
Anjema, a 20-year-old qualifier from The Hague, defeated Switzerland's sixth
seed Lars Harms 15-10 15-14 15-4. Now based at London's Connaught Club under
world No1 Peter Nicol's coach Neil Harvey, Anjema next faces fourth-seeded
Frenchman Jean-Michel Arcucci.
