El Hindi Advances As Tuominen Tumbles In Detroit

Unseeded Egyptian Wael El Hindi continued his drive through the field of the Suburban Collection Motor City Squash Open with a four-game dismissal of fifth-seeded Finn Olli Tuominen in the quarter-finals of the PSA Tour event at the Birmingham Athletic Club in Detroit, USA.

The 25-year-old from Cairo, who upset Malaysia's fourth seed Mohd Azlan Iskandar in the opening round, won 11-8 7-11 11-10 11-6 in 58 minutes.

In the semi-finals, El Hindi will take on second seed John White.  The Scot comfortably took the first two games in his quarter-final against eighth seed Adrian Grant, but the left-handed Englishman staged a mighty comeback in the third game before White eventually claimed victory with a 6-4 score in a tie-break.

The other semi-final will feature Canada's top seed Jonathon Power and England's No3 seed Nick Matthew.  Power, the world No2 from Montreal, despatched Malaysia's seventh seed Ong Beng Hee 11-7 11-3 11-7 in 45 minutes, while Matthew recovered from a game down to take out French qualifier Jean-Michel Arcucci 8-11 11-6 11-6 11-8 in 51 minutes.
