Kheirallah Comebacks Lead To Alexandria Title

Local star Engy Kheirallah twice came back from behind against France's third seed Isabelle Stoehr in the final of the Women's Alexandria Sporting Club Squash Open to win the inaugural WISPA World Tour title in her own club in the Egyptian city of Alexandria.

Kheirallah, the 23-year-old fourth seed from Alexandria, took her place in the final after toppling top-seeded compatriot Omneya Abdel Kawy in the semi-finals.

Stoehr had also reached the final without dropping a game – in the semi-finals upsetting second seed Annelize Naude in straight games.

And the eight-times French champion took the first game in the final – and, after Kheirallah levelled to one-all, Stoehr sneaked the third in a tie-break.

But in the pair's first meeting on the WISPA World Tour, it was the Egyptian who then took the upper hand – dropping just three further points as she raced to a 6-9 9-4 9-10 9-1 9-2 victory – much to the delight of her Alexandria Sporting Club fans.

Kheirallah's impressive victory extends her 100% record in WISPA finals – in which she has won three out of three since first claiming an Egyptian Circuit event in July 2003 in Cairo.
