Jenny Tranfield Retires From WISPA World Tour

After ten years of professional squash, England's Jenny Tranfield has decided to retire from the WISPA World Tour in order to pursue a career in sport psychology.

"I intend to fulfil my WISPA playing commitments until November and hope to continue to play in the UK thereafter," said the 30-year-old from Milton Keynes.

Tranfield, the 1998 World University Champion, achieved 11 WISPA titles, numerous international caps, a top eight world ranking as well as receiving a First Class honours degree and PhD from Loughborough University.  In addition, Tranfield has made a significant contribution to the women’s game through her membership on the WISPA board.

"I would like to thank all those people who have supported me over the years.  Squash has been a massive part of my life and has provided me with some unforgettable experiences.  Now I feel it’s the right time for me to move on to the next phase," Tranfield added.

Peter Hirst, Director of Performance and Coaching at England Squash, added:  "Jenny has been a valued member of England teams in recent years and has represented her country well.  We respect her decision and wish her every good fortune in the future."
