Castagnet & Selby In Surprise Spanish Semi
French qualifier Mathieu Castagnet and fifth-seeded Englishman Daryl Selby will meet in a surprise semi-final of the Trofeu Internacional Ciutat de Barcelona Squash Open in the Spanish city.
Castagnet, the 18-year-old from Le Mans who won a year's membership of the PSA after ending last season as No1 in the European Squash Federation junior rankings, continued his foray through the popular Barcelona event by upsetting Bermuda's fourth seed Nicholas Kyme 11-8 10-11 11-3 11-2 to reach his first PSA Tour semi-final.
His opponent Daryl Selby also pulled off a notable upset when he beat compatriot Stacey Ross, the No2 seed, 7-11 11-7 11-6 11-4.
The other semi-final will be the one predicted by the seedings – between Italian favourite Davide Bianchetti and local hero Borja Golan, the third seed from Spain.
