Favourites England, the title-holders, beat 8th seeds Scotland 3-0 in Pool A, though No2 seeds Netherlands only managed a 2-1 win over Denmark, the seventh seeds, in Pool B. Belgium's unexpected victory over Germany followed a 2-1 win over 14th seeds Israel. Germany, who earlier beat rivals Austria 3-0, now face Israel in their final qualifying match in Pool X.
