Home Hopes With Giuffre In Manitoba

Hopes of domestic success in the ADL Optical/Rodenstock Manitoba Open Squash Championship rest with Canada's Matthew Giuffre, the fourth seed who despatched English qualifier Sam Miller 11-8 11-6 11-3 in the quarter-finals in Manitoba.

Giuffre, 22, from Edmonton, now meets Switzerland's Lars Harms for a place in the final.  Unseeded Harms, who knocked out defending champion Shahier Razik in the first round, defeated Montreal qualifier Ian Power 11-8 11-5 11-6 in 45 minutes and will now hope for a hat-trick of Canadian victories to reach the final.

The other semi-final will feature France's third seed Stephane Galifi and second seed Cameron Pilley, from Australia.  Galifi beat sixth-seeded New Zealander Callum O'Brien 11-10 11-9 11-5, while Pilley removed Mexico's Eric Galvez, the fifth seed, 11-1 11-5 10-11 11-9 in 64 minutes.
