Canadian squash star Shawn Delierre delighted the crowd at the GoodLife Open in Ottawa by winning the PSA World Tour Challenger 10 event at GoodLife Fitness for the third time.

The fourth seed from Montreal, winner of the title in 2006 and 2007, faced Martin Knight, the No3 seed from New Zealand who is ranked four places higher in the world.

It was Kiwi Knight who took the early lead, winning the first game with some tight length shots and finishing well with excellent backhand dropshots at the front.

Delierre regrouped in the second to draw level.

"In the third game, Knight got ahead in some long rallies, until he made three uncharacteristic errors in a row to let Delierre back in the game," explained tournament organiser Heather Wallace. "Delierre then followed up with some great drop shots to take the lead, leaving Knight to play catch up from then on.

"In the fourth and final game, Delierre picked up the pace and had Knight scrambling the full length of the court.

"Today Delierre just had too much in his arsenal for Knight and won a great four-game match."

The 4-11, 11-6, 11-9, 11-7 victory in 67 minutes marks Delierre's first Tour title of the year - but the 11th of his career and the seventh on home soil.
