Top Seeds In Apawamis Final

The two top seeds will contest both the men's and women's finals in the Marsh & McLennan Apawamis Squash Open after contrasting victories in the semi-finals in Rye, USA.

Egypt's Karim Darwish, the No1 seed and defending champion, had to come from two games down to overcome Australia's third seed Dan Jenson 10-11 9-11 11-6 11-8 11-4 to reach his 15th PSA Tour final. 

In the other men's semi-final, Canada's second seed Jonathon Power brushed aside Frenchman Renan Lavigne, the fourth seed, 11-3 11-4 11-2 in his third successive straight games win in the event.

Egypt's favourite in the women's event needed four games to reach the final.  Omneya Abdel Kawy, from Cairo, lost the first game against France's fourth seed Isabelle Stoehr but powered back to win 4-9 9-5 9-2 10-8.

Her opponent in the final will be England's No2 seed Vicky Botwright, the 9-7 9-1 9-3 victor over compatriot Jenny Duncalf.
