The top seed, born in Pakistan but now a New Zealand resident, won his first two matches in straight games, accounting for England's Daryl Selby 15-12 15-10 15-13 in the opening round, before cruising to a 15-13 15-10 15-10 victory over fellow Kiwi Josh Greenfield. Second seed Callum O'Brien has also made reasonably light work of his opening two matches, downing Namibian Ryan Thompson 15-12 15-10 17-14, followed by a 15-4 15-7 15-9 win over fellow New Zealander Graeme Wilson. However, the giant-killing exploits of Egypt's Amr Ramzy Swelim have come to an end. After reaching two finals in New Zealand in the past fortnight, the eighth seed has stumbled in just the second round at Royal Oak, going down 15-12 15-10 15-9 to fellow Egyptian El Iraky Omar Abd El Aziz. |
