SQUASH NEWS Jenny Jumps To World Top Ten Position Cassie Jackman retains her No1 position in the new June Women's World Squash Rankings, announced today (03 June) by the Women's International Squash Players' Association (WISPA), but fellow countrywoman Jenny Tranfield is the star of the new list after leaping seven places to No10. In an unchanged top nine, Australia's Rachael Grinham holds onto the second place behind Jackman, with Dutch No1 Vanessa Atkinson at three; USA's Natalie Grainger at four; and Rachael's younger sister Natalie Grinham at five. Tranfield crowned a sensational run on the WISPA World Tour last month in the USA when she lifted her second title against the odds in seven days. After upsetting three higher-ranked players en-route to winning the Squashworks Open trophy in Salt Lake City, the 29-year-old from Milton Keynes hit the jackpot in Las Vegas when she clinched the 'Bright Lights' Las Vegas Open trophy to claim the tenth, and biggest, WISPA title of her career. New Zealand's Shelley Kitchen, who maintains her 14th position in the list, was also a WISPA title winner in May when she swept to victory in the Hyder Open in New York. 1 [1] Cassie Jackman ENG 2 [2] Rachael Grinham AUS 3 [3] Vanessa Atkinson NED 4 [4] Natalie Grainger USA 5 [5] Natalie Grinham AUS 6 [6] Linda Charman ENG 7 [7] Fiona Geaves ENG 8 [8] Nicol David MAS 9 [9] Rebecca Macree ENG 10 [17] Jenny Tranfield ENG 11 [10] Omneya Abdel Kawy EGY 12 [12] Jenny Duncalf ENG 13 [11] Vicky Botwright ENG 14 [14] Shelley Kitchen NZL 15 [13] Isabelle Stoehr FRA 16 [15] Stephanie Brind ENG 17 [16] Madeline Perry IRL 18 [19] Tania Bailey ENG 19 [18] Rebecca Chiu HKG 20 [20] Pamela Nimmo SCO For the complete WISPA ranking list, see www.wispa.net |
