Baker battled for 100 minutes to overcome higher-ranked Egyptian Amr Mansi 17-15 15-10 11-15 15-11 and is rewarded with a place in the first round against another Egyptian - top seed Omar Elborolossy. Rösner had a more straightforward encounter against Oliver Post, beating his fellow countryman 15-2 15-9 15-7 in 25 minutes to earn a first round clash with England's eighth seed Mark Heather.
