De Rycke In Maiden WISPA Title Bid

Belgium's European Junior Champion Charlie De Rycke and France's veteran Corinne Castets brushed aside five seeds in the Women's Carcassone City Squash Open to reach the final in Carcassone, France, unseeded.

De Rycke, 17, from Antwerp, made a great start in the event with a 3/0 win over the top seed Kate Roe - and followed up her stunning breakthrough by beating Egypt's fourth seed Amnah El Trabolsy 9-4 7-9 9-4 9-4 to reach her maiden WISPA World Tour final.

Castets, the oldest player on the WISPA Tour, just a month away from her 39th birthday, delighted local supporters with successive victories over the sixth, the second and then the third seed to take her place in the final.  Earlier this month, the French star made an emotional farewell at the European Championships after representing her country with distinction for 20 years, during which time she amassed 160 senior caps - which is believed to be a European record!

In the semi-finals, Castets beat Egypt's No3 seed Raneem El Weleily 9-5 10-8 5-9 4-9 9-3 and is now only one win away from her second WISPA title.
